The Imps 383 Pin Ups 401
The Imps poor run in this years Blackthorn British Skittles Championship continued at the Conservative Club last night with an 18 pin defeat to Weymouth's Pin Ups.
The match was played with a brand new set of pins which both teams took too straight away with the Imps hitting a 73 hand with a 15 stick up from P.Goodland, while Pin Ups hit a 70 hand with a 15 stick up from A.Roberts. On the second hand the Imps increased their lead to 8 pins hitting a 66 hand to which the Pin Ups could only reply with a 61 hand. Imps hit 64 on the third hand but this time the visitors came back strongly with a 70 hand to pull 6 pins and leave only 2 pins between the teams, A.Ley of the Pin Ups had a 17 stick up on the hand and this proved to be the turning point in the game.
The home side struggled on the fourth hand and only hit a 56 hand while the Weymouth side took control of the match hitting a 66 hand with stick ups from R.Sibley (13) and C.Aston (13) to go 8 pins up. The fifth hand was tied with both sides hitting 63.
On the last hand the Imps could not get the stick ups needed to leave the visitors a realistic target only hitting a 61 hand, and Pin Ups only chasing 54 to win finished with a big 71 hand to win the match by 18 pins, M.Lock had a 17 stick up for Pin Ups on the last hand to give him a total of 56 to top the visitors scoring. For the home side P.Goodland and M.Haime scored 54.
Pin Ups top Group 11 and look certain to be going into the knock out stages of the competition while the Imps will need to win their last three matches to stand any chance of progressing into the next stage.
