Marco Wanderers look set to emulate Dewlish Monsters remarkable achievement of winning Section A three seasons in a row. Marco find themselves eight points clear with only twelve points left to play for, although they still have to have their bye Marco are red hot favourite to make it three in a row. Their final five games are Spares (H), Patriots (A), Monsters (H), Pudd Wand (A) and Slingers (H).
Dewlish Monsters treble came in seasons 97-98,98-99 and 99-00 when they were near on unbeatable, and their Royal Oak alley was a fortress for them.
In the 90's Gladiators won Section A two seasons in a row 93-94 and 94-95 from the Trinity Club. While in the early 80's Rebels playing from the Bulls Head won the league four times in six seasons 80-81, 82-83, 84-85 and 85-86.
Unfortunately I have no records of league winners before 1980. If anyone knows of any winners from 1950 onwards I would be pleased to hear from you tgosney@tiscali.co.uk
Also I have been recently asked for any names of winners or runners up from any competitions from past seasons whatever it may be (League, cup, pairs , singles captains, mixed) if you can add any names I would be grateful
